Flower Power
Spring has finally sprung! Well, according to the calendar, that is. Though the temps seem to still fluctuate, here in DC the cherry blossoms are in bloom, a sure sign that winter’s end is in sight. Nothing says ‘spring’ like flowers, in nature as well as fashion and florals are definitely a trend to watch.
I’ve never been a floral print kinda girl. I associated them with old ladies, lace doilies and housecoats. Today’s floral print styles, however, are nothing like the ones your grandmother wore. This cute hi-low dress by Highline is an example of the modern take you can now find in stores and on social media fashionistas.
I liked that it was black, which still gave it a chic vibe, and the cold shoulder detail was also a big draw. Adding a Blank NYC studded moto jacket and suede platform thigh high boots gave the look some edge, which helped rocking the trend feel more palatable for this Brooklyn-bred urban gal. Large hoop earrings, oversized sunnies and a cool wool beret completed the boho chic vibe I was going for. The combination made me feel fun, flirty, feminine and fierce all at once. Now that’s a good look.
